How often is the data within PEdatabase updated/reviewed?
PEdatabase is continuously updated and every record is reviewed no less than once per year. Larger firms are reviewed more frequently on an ad hoc basis than smaller firms. Portfolio information is reviewed in the same fashion.
How does PEdatabase aggregate information?
Information is culled from a variety of sources including firm websites, directly from firms and other publicly available documents.
When I conduct an export of firms, why do I see just 150 records despite a longer list of returned results?
PEdatabase limits the number of exportable information to the first 150 records. To get more information from the same list, we suggest conducting narrower searches using non-overlapping criteria such as size or location.
What are comments?
Comments are saveable bits of information that may be added on the details page of a private equity firm record. To add a comment, select the "Comments-Add" tab and fill out the relevant fields. Once a comment(s) has been added it will appear on the firm details page until deleted. There is no limit to the number of Comments that may be added. In addition to standard text comments, users may also add and save files. To add a file select the "File/Document Upload" function and follow the appropriate steps.
How do I delete comments/notes?
Comments can only be deleted by accessing the My Comments page. This link is shown on the member landing page. Selecting various column headers allows multiple ways to locate comments (i.e. sort by date, firm, log type, or contact method). Select the "Delete" link to remove.
Note: Deleting comments is a permanent function and this data cannot be recovered.
Are comments viewable by other PEdatabase members?
No. Comments are proprietary and only viewable by the account holder who created the comment(s).
What are project lists?
Project lists are savable/custom lists of PE firms. PEdatabase currently allows users to save firms to up to four different project lists. These lists are empty by default. To add a firm to a list, on the details page for a private equity firm record, select the "Watchlist-Add" tab and then select the appropriate list. Firms may be added to more than one list.
To view project lists, select the appropriate link (Project A - Project D) on the member area homepage. Firms may be deleted from project lists by selecting the "Delete" function.
Can I export information from Project Lists?
Yes. Contact information is exportable by selecting the "Download" function on each of the Project List summary pages.
Can I change the name of Project lists?
At this time, the default names of (Project A, Project B, Project C, Project D) cannot be changed.
Why are portfolio details not available for all certain firms?
If a portfolio section is not shown on a firm's details page, then PEdatabase has either not captured portfolio due to lack of public information or a firm has does not have a portfolio company.
When I conduct a search in the main "Filter Firms" window, why do I sometimes get no results?
If you check off or fill out many specific criteria when filtering firms in the database, it is possible that you may narrow the list of firms down quickly and end up with no matching results. We suggest that when conducting searches, start with your most important criteria and see how many results are returned. If enough records are delivered to filter further, then we suggest going back and adding more criteria to get a list appropriate for your needs.
How do I change my password or update/check my billing info?
All administrative funtions tied to your account, including password changes and billing info can be modified or reviewed within the Account Info page. A link to this page can be found in the top right of each PEdatabase member page.
